'Prosecco over childcare'
Currently, three- and four-year-old children in England are offered 15 hours of free childcare and early education weekly during term time. In 2017, the government added an additional 15 hours for children whose parents work at least 16 hours per week at minimum wage.West Yorkshire Mayor Tracy Brabin said the government had put 'Prosecco before childcare' as it lowered the cost of some alcohol and 'ignored' crippling childcare fees.
Purnima Tanuku, chief executive of the National Day Nurseries Association , also said a failure to fund early education and childcare puts children's early development at risk.'We all know how crucial children’s early years are for their development, learning and life chances, but failing to fund early education and childcare properly is putting this at risk.
Family hubs are a single place where families can get services like childcare, midwifery services, breastfeeding help and job advice.
