Family members have left loving messages this week to relatives who have passed away

Catherine Ann Smith Catherine Ann Smith, of Harwood Road, Rishton, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, September 11, aged 89 years.Catherine will be sadly missed by all her family and friends. The devoted wife of the late Barry, loving and loved mum of Pete and the late Geoff, cherished and adored gran of Alfie, Stan and Tommy, dear auntie of Anthony, Phil, Mark and Garry and a loved relative and friend of many.
She always looked forward to family holidays, when many wonderful memories would be made and Anne enjoyed many weekends away with her good friend friends. Wendy Tunaley Wendy Tunaley passed away peacefully with her loving sons James and Russell by her side on Sunday, September 17, aged 60. Wendy loved her holidays both here in the UK and aboard. She and Franny did a mean jive! She particularly loved tap dancing and, over many years, performed on stage in lots of shows. Nothing made her more happy than going to the theatre – whether with the Hyndburn Theatre Group or in London with her Family. Over the years, she has seen almost every musical – at least once!
A service to celebrate Millie’s life will be held at Our Lady & St Hubert’s Church, Great Harwood on Friday, October 6 at 2pm followed by committal at Accrington Crematorium. Irene worked in Woolworths when she left school and worked in various cotton mills and spent most of her life working at Barns and Rothwell in Church as a supervisor in the winding and spinning rooms.
Special thanks to Dr Bello and his team for all her care over the years and also Father Pat of St Mary’s, Clayton who attended Irene most weeks in her time at Hope House. Lilian Steele Lilian Steele, of Back Lane, Baxenden, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 19, aged 92 years.In her spare time she was a regular member at St James Church in Accrington and also an active member of the Ribble Valley Spinning Group.
The dearly beloved husband of Rosie, much loved dad of Nicola, Emma and Adam, loving stepdad of Ryan and Gary, a much loved grandad, loving brother of Geoff, Janice, Tricia, John, Philip, Jacqui, Peter and Mandy, a much loved brother-in-law, uncle, relative and friend. He was a popular and well known gentleman in Oswaldtwistle, known as ‘Tony Butcher’ and he enjoyed his weekends socialising in the pubs on Union Road with his friends.
He was also adventurous with his food abroad. It was tragic when Tony was struck down with Encephalitis and the illness took over.
