The AFC Fylde manager James Rowe has been charged with sexual assault and is due to appear in court next month.
Rowe, 39, joined the National League North side after he left Chesterfield by ‘mutual consent’ in February, having been suspended by the club a month earlier.“In January this year, officers received a report of a man having sexually assaulted a woman in Chesterfield, with the offence alleged to have taken place in November 2021.
“James Rowe, 39, of Breaston, in Derby, has now been charged and is due to appear before magistrates at Chesterfield Justice Centre on Monday 7 November.” Rowe was first suspended from his role as Chesterfield manager on January 24 with the club top of the National League. The Spireites said that suspension was “pending an investigation into allegations of misconduct” but within two weeks it had been announced that Rowe had left the club by mutual consent.
