This place puts a whole new meaning to 'desserts you could die for'
We'd heard good things about Birkacre Garden Centre, so despite it not being on our doorstep we decided it would be worth the half-hour drive from Manchester.
It already has quite a large restaurant, as well as some outdoor seating, and on selected tables inside you can take your dog along too.READ MORE: The family friendly restaurant that feels like a spring garden and serves up incredible Sunday roasts The pie of the day, minced beef and onion, was the dish of choice for my husband and son, while I went for the turkey roast dinner.It's less hectic than other garden centres we've been to, mainly because the table service prevents queues and chaos at the till.
While both meals were tasty - the pie in particular, which I managed to nab a forkful of - there was a notable absence of green veg and there seemed to be very little cheese in the cauliflower cheese. Despite my very best 'meerkat' impression as my kids call it, still no joy. Staff came and went, cleaning the various tables around us, but with no eye contact. Even Milo had stopped begging for food by this point.
