Barcelona risk losing Gavi for free this summer following court ruling

Barcelona are in danger of losing midfield starlet Gavi for free this summer amid an ongoing legal dispute with LaLiga.

In September, Gavi put pen to paper on a deal to run until 2026 which included a clause enabling him to leave as a free agent if Barcelona had not registered him as a first-team player by June 30, 2023. But court documents stated that the Catalan club presented their case under claims LaLiga’s decision against the registration of Gavi was part of a ‘harassment campaign’ against the club and as a result, were successful in their legal bid.
