Gazza reveals Calpol addiction that saw him banned from every chemist in Newcastle ScaredOfTheDark
Former footballer Paul Gascoigne, aka Gazza, has opened up on his addiction to the children's pain relief medication, Calpol, as he revealed that he was "banned from every chemist in Newcastle".
He explained to his co-stars: “Unfortunately, I’ve got this addiction personality. I stopped going to rehab for stupid reasons you know. I was like, that’s the addict side of us so I went for Calpol. He continued: "They [the chemists] were saying 'nine kids, what you doing with nine kids?' so I went 'yeah but don’t tell my family. It costs us a lot of money in maintenance'."He has been open and honest through the years about his addiction issues, and in 2020 during an interview on GMB, he revealed that he'd had an operation to try and combat his alcoholism, where three anti-alcohol pellets have been placed inside his groin.
