Georgia Harrison makes history by changing revenge porn law after Stephen Bear is jailed
Georgia Harrison has made history as the government announces a change in revenge porn laws, following the jailing of her ex-partner Stephen Bear.
The sharing of intimate images without consent will now carry a maximum penalty of six months imprisonment. "I’m so grateful to everyone who supported me throughout this campaign and it just goes to show how amazing our country is that the Government have reacted so quickly to push through these amendments."
"This sentence is a vindication of what I've been put through and sends a clear message that the police and courts take this matter very seriously. The changes in law following this case have been welcomed by numerous campaigners including Refuge chief executive, Ruth Davison, who welcomed the amendments amid “woefully low” conviction rates for intimate image abuse.
