Investigating officer Detective Inspector Justin Thomas, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “I am appealing to anybody who was in the vicinity at the time and may have witnessed the collision to please get in touch.
“All persons and vehicles involved remained at the scene and the child’s family were also present at the time of the collision. “First responders, including the air ambulance, were quickly on scene to provide immediate first aid to the child."
