For most women, the menopause starts between the ages of 45 and 55 and only one in 10,000 women under the age of 20 are diagnosed with early menopause.
A schoolgirl going through early menopause has revealed what it’s like to be told you won’t have children when you are still one yourself.She then experienced around 30 hot flushes a day, which were getting worse and worse, eventually leading to her diagnosis.Annabelle told her story to the, where 12 finalists aged between 11 and 18 were selected to have their stories broadcast across the BBC.
But Annabelle remains positive and says that despite her diagnosis: ‘There’s always going to be someone going through something worse.’ She has also been told she will never have children naturally, something Annabelle said her mum took ‘a lot harder’.
