A teenage girl was wounded when a yob launched a cup filled with coins at Manchester City's Etihad Stadium.
The girl was left with a one inch cut to her head when she was struck during the Carabao Cup match between City and Liverpool on December 22. It is believed that the cup was thrown from the upper tier into the lower tier where it hit the 15-year-old. The victim was taken to hospital where for treatment to her injuries. Greater Manchester Police has now launched a public appeal for further information to help find whoever is responsible for the "malicious attack".Superintendent Gareth Parking of GMP said: “GMP will not tolerate violent or malicious behaviour in any situation, this does NOT exclude football matches or sports games.
“We are continuing to investigate this incident and would urge those who attended the game who know who is responsible or could have any information to assist us further, to please come forward. You can report any information to us by calling 101 or report information online via our reporting tool on our website: www.gmp.police.uk quoting log 1880 of 22/12/2022. Alternatively, you can report information anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
