National Air Traffic Services (NATS) confirmed on Monday afternoon that the 'engineers' were 'working to fix the fault' and that 'traffic flow restrictions' would be applied.
Glasgow International and Glasgow Prestwick airports have both been affected by the 'technical issue' affecting UK air traffic control.
"We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Please check with your airline on the status of your flight." A spokeswoman for Glasgow Prestwick Airport told Glasgow Live: “Like all UK airports, Glasgow Prestwick Airport is experiencing flight delays due to an ongoing technical issue affecting Air Traffic Control. We have three Ryanair flights due to depart to Palma, Alicante and Faro today and we would advise passengers to check with the airline for the most up to date information regarding both departures and arrivals.
"Please note that unless your flight is cancelled, no refund will be offered for any operating service. If you already checked-in for your flight, please go Manage my Booking you can un-check yourself, and re-book.
