Paterson's of Greenoakhill Ltd has submitted an application to Glasgow City Council for the landfill site and wants to extend its operation for an additional two to four years.
An East End landfill company bidding to extend its contract past the original 2025 deadline has submitted a planning application to the council despite concerns from local councillors.
The company has told elected members that following a review, additional capacity is needed at the site to ensure “sufficient landfill waste management” and that the proposals will bring the opportunity for increased woodland planting, public paths and an elevated focal point with seating on the new landform once the landfill is completed.
"Local residents have only recently had to deal with many issues caused by the site's operation - including incidents beginning late last year which led to SEPA fining Paterson's and suspending their Pollution Prevention and Control Permit due to offensive smells coming from the site.
