Luna and Daniel Rolfe were taken to an evacuation centre instead of their hotel after landing on the Greek island.
Newlyweds from Glasgow have told how their dream honeymoon to Rhodes descended into a scene from a "diaster movie".
“We understand it’s a crazy situation and everyone is trying to do the best they can but we feel very much stuck here like we’ve been left without very much information at all.” When they arrived in Rhodes they found hundreds of people crowded outside the airport but it was only when they boarded their Tui transfer coach that they realised something was seriously wrong.
The couple had been due to stay at the five-star Lindos Imperial Resort and Spa, in the village of Kiotari, but it was evacuated and pictures shared online yesterday showed charred sun loungers by the poolside. Luna said: “We can’t stay here because it’s booked tonight and we can’t stay for 10 days because we’re essentially paying for a second holiday. We can’t really afford to go anywhere else.
