A beautiful new sculpture inspired by Glasgow’s gathering spaces – and its changeable weather – has taken pride of place in Easterhouse.
The project, part of Platform’s Dual Purpose Sculpture series this summer, evolved from the Sculpture Placement Group’s research into extending the lifespan of sculptures created for short-term exhibitions. The Brolly, made of galvanized steel and glass, catches water in its top tier, which then trickles down to the lower tiers. It is inspired by public fountains, which are often central meeting points in public spaces.
