A major investigation has been launched in Newton Mearns following a disturbance on Thursday evening and a street is on lock down.
A large area of Malletsheugh Road - which was yesterday closed at both ends - has been cordoned off as police carry out an investigation. Images taken further up the road show the presence of a Scottish Ambulance Service incident response unit, a Scottish Fire and Rescue Service vehicle and various police cars as well as a mobile wellbeing unit, the Daily Record reports. Ironically, the scene provides an aerial view of Glasgow, similar to the opening credits of the fictional TV detective series ‘Taggart’.
It lies around two miles south of the main residential area of Newton Mearns, one of the plushest suburbs of the city. Police provided little detail of what was taking place.
