Engineers are scrambling to various locations to fix the faults
Drivers have been warned to "use caution" during their journey this morning as traffic lights across the city and wider Glasgow remain broken.
A spokesperson for the council said: “Due to mains electricity spikes/outages overnight, there are numerous traffic signal failures across the city.“Please exercise caution during your journey. We are in the process of attending those sites affected and restoring them to operational condition.” It appears the problem has reached wider areas including Cumbernauld, with one concerned motorist tweeting: "Multiple traffic light failures in Cumbernauld Road/Stepps Road. Also Stepps Road at Rychazie and Bellroxk Street. Free for all."
