Rhys Smith, 20, from Gloucester, is sentenced to 16 months detention for the possession of knives.
Rhys Smith lunged at Conner Twomey after threatening to "cut him up into pieces"
Prosecutor, Catherine Flint, told Gloucester Crown Court that both Smith and Mr Twomey had been partners of the same woman. Catherine Spedding, defending, said Smith had been released from prison two days before the incident and had been given a flat in Bristol.
