Part of the historical Preston Bus depot is set to be used as a convenience store, years on from the site's demolition.
Plans for the demolition were approved earlier in 2021 with a proposed restoration of the building. Following the mass demolition, the site remained as a bus depot with the promise of redevelopment to suit the requirements of a 21st century public transport facility. Now, Rotala PLC - owners of Preston Bus - have submitted further applications for parts of the site. One of the remaining buildings located within the former Preston Bus Depot is set to be used a retail unit.
The unit will be accessed off Deepdale Road using the existing Bus Depot access. A car park of 12 space and one disabled bay is proposed within the plans. They add that the store would act as and 'additional location close to a high proportion of residential properties that may need to top up on shopping during the week'. Applicants have also determined that the shop will not be open at unsociable hours and 'there would be negligible impacts in terms of noise, traffic and air quality'.
