Our appreciation for the outdoors is ever increasing, particularly as we continue to spend extended periods indoors. Lucky Londoners can reap the rewards of a meditative lockdown stroll around the East End’s Brick Lane, which currently boasts a blooming mural of sorbet-pink flowers from the archive of 20th-century painter and textile artist Ken Scott. The comes courtesy of Gucci’s ArtWalls project, which also sees artworks painted on façades in Milan, Manhattan, Shanghai and Hong Kong.
The Gucci Ken Scott collaboration first came into bloom for the brand’s Resort 2021 Epilogue collection, which sees Scott’s signature floral designs, from peonies to roses, poppies to sunflowers, swathed across accessories, footwear and ready-to-wear. Scott, who initially rose to prominence in his native US, and was supported by Peggy Guggenheim, moved from New York to Milan in the 1950s. There, he launched his own printed textile company, Falconetto.
