Sam Riley and Dino Lamb scored tries for Quins after Bryan Byrne was sin-binned for a 16th-minute deliberate knock-on before Nick David got a third score shortly before the break.
Alex Dombrandt got on the end of a lovely move to seal the bonus point for Quins early in the second period. Louis Lynagh got a fifth try, Newcastle replied with a penalty try before Tyrone Green got an incredible score. Marcus Smith - on as a replacement after returning from the World Cup - floated a kick towards the right corner and Green acrobatically dived to gather and dot down for what will be a try of the season contender.
