EXCLUSIVE: Harry Redknapp reacts to calls pleading with him to take Tottenham job THFC
Harry Redknapp would jump at the chance to return as Tottenham manager – but is not expecting Daniel Levy to call.
The legendary manager has been backed in some quarters to return to north London and save their season, with interim boss Christian Stellini struggling to get a tune out of the players.Tottenham were humiliated 6-1 at Newcastle on Sunday as their Champions League qualification hopes took another hammer blow.from 2008 to 2012, told talkSPORT on Monday that he would be willing to take on the role, though he will not be waiting for a call with bated breath.
Speaking to Laura Woods, who asked Redknapp if he would go back to Tottenham, he told talkSPORT: “It is very, very unlikely they will come knocking for me.“I am not here sitting by the phone waiting for a call, that is for sure.“To be fair [to Stellini], I thought he did a great interview after the match. I don’t know him, I’ve never met him.
“They were very open but it still doesn’t excuse the performance of the players and the way they played. “The lack of effort was abysmal really, it was scary. I could see at 5-0, if Newcastle keep pushing they could get nine or 10 here.”
