Watford have been awarded compensation of more than £2.3million as a player found guilty of breaching a pre-contract arrangement with the Hornets three years ago is finally set to begin a four-month ban.
The decision of FIFA’s DRC was challenged at the CAS, both by the player, Marseille and Watford. In January 2022 the CAS stayed the sanctions imposed on Gueye by FIFA, clearing him to play at that year’s Africa Cup of Nations. “However, the CAS panel determined that OM had in fact rebutted the presumption of inducement and annulled the disciplinary sanction imposed on OM.”
