Households that should have received the payment alongside their £400 energy bill support this year will miss out if they don't make a claim
Roughly two million people across the UK currently use alternative fuels to heat their homes which can include heating oil, liquefied petroleum gas , coal, or biomass. Many of the households that fall under this category should have already received their Alternative Fuel Payment last February.
However, not all households would have received this payment despite being eligible. The deadline to apply for the payment will end today which means households that should have received the payment alongside their £400 energy bill support this year will miss out if they don't make a claim.Applications are quick and easy via the gov.uk website or by calling 0808 175 3287.
For your application, you must provide proof of any alternative fuels you've purchased since June 1, 2022 which totals to at least £200. According to the government, you may be eligible for the AFP if both of the following are true:
