Those who lose track of their pensions may not have a complete picture of how much income they will have in retirement
Many in the pension industry have urged the Government to speed up the implementation of a pension dashboard, a proposed platform to allow pension savers to see all of their various plans in one place.
It is hoped that pension schemes will start connecting to the dashboards system from April 2023, but Pensions Dashboards Programme principal Chris Curry recently warned that it could take several years until the system is fully launched. “The introduction of pensions dashboards in the next two years will also help millions of savers be reunited with their lost pots at a click of a button. This promises to be a game-changer but the industry has a lot of work to do to ensure that the necessary data is available.”Until then, pension savers’ first port of call should be any existing paperwork from your employer or pension provider which may have the details of the scheme’s administrator or provider.
Once you know who to contact, you should prepare some information to send them, including your plan number , date of birth, National Insurance number and the date your pension was set up.
