BREAKING: GMP issue statement after shooting in Manchester tonight
A street in south Manchester has been taped off this evening following a shooting.
Eyewitnesses have reported seeing dozens of officers, some of whom are armed, in Quinney Crescent and Great Western Street,Pictures from the scene show several police vehicles and an ambulance next to a police cordon at the junction. Greater Manchester Police have confirmed tonight officers were called to the area following reports of a shooting.A police helicopter has also been spotted in the area - a short distance from Princess Road.
A GMP spokesman said: "Police are currently responding to a reported firearms discharge on Quinney Crescent, Manchester."Anyone with information should contact GMP quoting 3388 29/07/22. Information can also be shared anonymously via the independent charity – Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
