Shoppers arrived bright and early to be 'part of history'
The new store was officially opened by loyal customer Jean Hanlon, 81, from Sefton Park, who has been visiting Marks and Spencer every day for the last 28 years. Colin the Caterpillar and Percy Pig joined staff outside for the grand opening, which shoppers described as a "new chapter" for the high street.
James Morgan, 29, from Litherland, was one of the first shoppers to walk through the doors of the Liverpool ONE store this morning. James told the ECHO: "I'm very interested in the store and very excited to see what it's all about, and obviously the golden ticket as well. Lily told the ECHO: "I just wanted to see what it's like because I always come to M&S. I used to always go to the Aintree store but once I couldn't drive, I didn't have a car, I could get the bus down to this store.
