What a legend, RIP Mick

Well-wishers lined the streets of Bamber Bridge as the town said a final goodbye to a beloved local legend.

"In terraced houses, they used to have a big cupboards with a bed and three big drawers, next to the fireplace. He was in the bottom drawer and the toilet was outside." "When he got his Class One, they asked him to run the line once at Preston North End. The referee had been on for about 20 minutes and he slipped and broke his ankle.

"That's 37 to 40 years on and they're still there," Sharon and Tracy explain. "Young lads they were then; 17 years of age. They couldn't think to catch a break or get a job anywhere, so our dad said, come with me and I'll take you on and they're still there to do this day.
