This latest bid follows 12 months of work to devise a scheme for the prominent town centre building.
The building dates back to 1874 and was originally built as a Sunday School in association with the Cannon Street Baptist Church. The applicants claim that their plans are "seen as a positive benefit to the character and setting of the designated heritage asset, given that a nightclub is by nature noisy and a late-night operator".
Cllr Marlene Haworth, Leader of the Council, said: “Hyndburn Council recently published a survey asking for people’s thoughts on the future. So far over 600 people have taken part and over 97% of people would like to see it continue to be a performance/theatre space, plus have provided some excellent ideas to expand the offer and attract more customers in future."
