The Polish woman, identified only as Izabela, actually died in September of septic shock, 22 weeks into her pregnancy, but the world only found out at the end of October. According to the family’s lawyer, she has left behind a husband and a daughter, living in southern Poland. That’s a family bereaved, hollowed out, and I am so sorry for their loss.
I have sympathy for people who are queasy or scared or made uncomfortable by abortions. They’re serious things. I doubt anyone having sex is doing so because they want an abortion. But that doesn’t mean they’re not also necessary, beneficial and important things, too.
