Rio Ferdinand was cracking up at the idea of an unfit Cristiano Ronaldo MUFC

Rio Ferdinand says Cristiano Ronaldo ‘wouldn’t allow himself’ to let himself go, even after he hangs up his boots.legend did admit he’d find it hilarious if in a sudden twist of fate his former teammate did lose his fitness. It’s unsurprising many athletes’ physiques change after they retire from their respective sports, as their training regimes disappear and their focus in life alters.

, Ferdinand discussed which footballers he believed looked better after they bowed out of the sport and vice versa.Manchester United heroes Ronaldo and Ferdinand played together for the Red Devils between 2003 and 2009, winning three Premier League titles, a Champions League and an FA Cup in that time.

And after getting to witness Ronaldo’s rise to the very top of football first hand, as well as the strict fitness regime he followed, Ferdinand believes he’ll always have washboard abs, even when he finishes at Al Nassr.

When co-host Stephen Howson jokingly asked if he’d ever expect Ronaldo – now 38 – to lose his incredible physique, Ferdinand laughed. “Ah no, I’d cane him! I don’t think he’d allow it, honestly,” he said. “I would cane him, I would hammer him.“If he’s got a little derby sitting over his belt and he can’t see the name of his belt and he can barely see his toes, and he’s resting his arm on his belly when he’s drinking a pint, oh my god I’d pay a lot of money to see that.”since he started playing for them in January, just as he once did at Man United.
