Natalie Carr, who had her phone stolen from a bar, has welcomed Suella Braverman's pledge that police will do more to solve such thefts
‘I had CCTV footage and the Facebook profile of man who stole my phone. The police did nothing’
Ms Carr described her experience as “infurating” adding: “I basically did all the work for them and had 100 per cent proof of the person stealing it and they still couldn’t be bothered to charge him. It seemed like too much effort.”a new set of standards for all police forces in England and Wales which she says will mean officers have to pursue all “reasonable lines of inquiry” when a crime is reported.
Ms Carr welcomed the Government’s announcement but said she feared there aren’t enough police to fulfill the promise. More than 20,000 extra recruits joined police forces in the past three years, but it followed thousands of job cuts under the Conservatives as part of a series of austerity measures.
