'I'm not quite ready for gargantuan buildings to take over my quiet spot in the city centre'
I’ll be the first to admit I’m not the greatest when it comes to dealing with change. It’s something I’m working on - among other things - but a certain reticence is something that very much exists in me.
While it certainly has needed a bit of TLC for a good while now, I’d take a sandwich and a book and just spend hours there as the sound of trains whooshed by on the lines behind. There was a nice vibe to it with students, citydwellers and families all spending some downtime in a bit of greenery in the city centre .
I’m just glad those behind the project seem to understand the importance that having green spaces in the city can have and I’ll remain cautiously optimistic that Vimto Gardens will become an even better picnic spot in the future. Luckily, the pair take everything in their stride and Carly says Kia ‘doesn’t mind it’. As for her youthful look, she puts it down to her "good genes".

They were so shocked."'You've got to offer something different' Sonny Shah, the owner of candy shop Kandy Baby, has been nicknamed the Willy Wonka of Manchester and it seems like a fair comparison to me.
One of the highlights to Kandy Baby, however, has to be the wall-sized mural inside the shop that depicts various scenes from Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. It’s a sweet reference point that everyone will be familiar with and shows that Sonny wants to stand out from the rest.
