Family members who lost people to Covid-19 in care homes are “absolutely furious”, with one saying the former health secretary should “hang his head in shame”.

Mr Hancock claims Covid-19 was primarily brought into care homes by infected staff members, not because of the decision to discharge residents from hospital without testing – which has been blamed for the large numbers of Covid deaths in care facilities. All asylum seekers entering the UK via “illegal” routes should be indefinitely detained, banned from settling and even tagged, under hardline proposals backed by the Home Secretaryto place a cap on the number of asylum seekers entering the country at no more than 20,000, and hinted at leaving the European Convention of Human Rights in a bid to strengthen the country’s borders.
