💬 Messing around with gender doesn’t have to be a battleground of the culture war, says comedian ChloePetts

readers with pink hair that think exactly like me, but it did feel like a good cross section of the average British person was in attendance across the whole tour, and the average British person seems to want everyone else to be happy and themselves.

One couple came up to me with a dossier of their findings re: their child’s suspected sexuality. Their first piece of evidence: “She’s also called Chloe.” Which, I’m sorry to say, is a sure sign you have a Sapphic child. I loved these conversations, although I felt a certain pressure from this growing mantle as a role model . But I reasoned that it’s my imperfections that can help a generation who don’t need to conform, who can enjoy being flexible with their identities and allow themselves to be multifaceted and – dare I say it – transient.

In the end, they found I was preaching such an unradical message of just being nice to everyone regardless of how they look that eventually they stopped talking and just watched the show quietly.
