One woman says she feels she will be pushed to have an induction because her C-section was delayed for more than a week because of strike action. One charity has warned of the increased risk of trauma for pregnant patients.

A Department of Health and Social Care spokesperson said:"We are committed to making the NHS the safest place in the world to give birth for all women.

Saffron Cordery, deputy chief executive at NHS Providers said the strike was a"worry escalation" in the NHS's"long-running dispute with the government". "The repercussions of this deadlock on patient care, financial costs, and staff morale should be a resounding wake-up call for both the government and the unions.
