Megan McNeill is urging others to use the online symptom checker if they're concerned

A woman from Northern Ireland has spoken about her ulcerative colitis diagnosis as a way to urge others not to ignore the symptoms.

As part of this it has launched an online symptom checker, developed with doctors, which takes just 30 seconds to find out if you should speak to your GP about your symptoms. It produces a list of your symptoms and can send you a letter for your GP to make talking them through easier. "The blood was definitely my first symptom. From then, things just got progressively worse. I was going to the toilet 30 to 40 times a day, it was horrible. I was doing my A Levels and I couldn't finish my last one as I was so sick.

"I do think if I was wiser I would've told my mummy sooner and maybe it wouldn't have happened this way." "I can go on holidays with my friends, I'm able to go out. I didn't feel like a normal teenager as I wasn't able to go out or do much with my friends, I struggled to leave the house.
