Wimbledon is right around the corner and World Number 1 Iga Swiatek has updated fans after illness saw her withdraw from the Bad Homburg Open 🎾
The dominant world No.1 heads to SW19 having just won Roland-Garros and faces world No.33 Zhu Lin in her first match on Monday.
Swiatek was playing in Bad Homburg to prepare for the Championships but a sudden illness forced her to pull out of the semi-finals on Friday. The Polish star blamed ‘fever and possible food poisoning’ but has now played down concerns over her health as she faced the media on Saturday. ‘I’m okay… I had a really bad night,’ Swiatek said. ‘We did with my conditioning coach like measurements in the morning.
‘They didn’t really look good because I barely slept. I had a stomach ache, but I don’t know if there was something wrong or not.I’m so sorry but I have to pull out of my match today. I had a restless night because of some fever and possible food poisoning. I’m not able to perform today and I need to take care of myself. I hope I’ll be fine soon. Your support in Bad Homburg was amazing, thank you.
