Thoughtless present? We think not
Christmas shopping… at time of writing, I’m wondering if there’s a nearby department store that will cater to both my Gen Z cousin and middle-aged dad. Despite it being The Most Wonderful Time of The Year, present hunting is a laborious task that leaves the smug and organised broadcasting how they did their shopping three months prior, and the lazy and disorganised panic buying in the closest shop to the office. What one gift traditionally marks you out as the latter? Socks.
By my calculation, there are roughly 300 sock-wearing days a year, give or take the odd heatwave. Quietly, they’ll accompany you through the biggest, smallest and even the mediumest moments of your life. No, they won’t be able to offer relationship advice or pay for a round at the pub, but sure as the sun will rise, theybe on your feet. And if you’re lucky enough to receive a pair of good quality socks this Christmas, don’t grumble, but rather count your blessings.
