Joe Biden landed in Belfast in the last hour
US President Joe Biden has touched down in Northern Ireland, with Air Force 1 landing in Belfast shortly after 9pm on Tuesday.
Mr Biden was greeted by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak this evening. He will be staying overnight in Belfast, with his main engagement in Northern Ireland - a keynote speech at Ulster University's new Belfast campus - taking place on tomorrow. Northern Ireland Secretary Chris Heaton-Harris and the King’s personal representative for County Antrim, Lord-Lieutenant David McCorkell, were also among the welcoming party.
Mr Biden will go on to carry out a number of engagements in the South during his four-day stay, including visiting Co Louth and Co Mayo, from where his ancestors hail. The US president's visit has been timed to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement.Air Force One landing at Belfast International Airport this evening.
