Her parents are in a legal battle with Nottingham University Hospitals over whether her life support should be turned off
The dad of a critically ill seven-month-old girl being treated at a Nottingham hospital has given an update on her health. The parents of Indi Gregory, who has not left the Queen's Medical Centre since she was born, are in a legal battle with Nottingham University Hospitals over whether her treatment should continue.
But her parents, 37-year-old Dean Gregory and 35-year-old Claire Staniforth of Ilkeston, say many of Indi's major episodes can be attributed to infections acquired in hospital rather than her conditions. They also say that Indi's condition is improving and that she is interacting with the world around her.But NUH, which runs the QMC, argue it is not in the best interests of Indi for the current level of treatment to continue.
"Then after a few days Indi's CRP infection levels raised to 27 and [her] temperature went to 40.5 degrees. So they have started back on the vancomycin and added another antibiotic plus a fungal one. You see her blood pressure is dropping because she has a bad infection, she was positive for E.coli on the 28th of August.
