After 111 years on London Road, the retailer moves to become even more central in the city
There is also a cafe on the third floor, but that has not opened yet. Speaking to the ECHO about the move, Ann, a sales assistant, has worked for TJ Hughes for 15 years but said the store is ready for a new lease of life: “It’s amazing really. I’ve been here for so long and you used to get a lot of people having to walk to get to it but now we’re here it’s far more accessible.”
Marge, from Birkenhead, said the change of location won’t affect her too much but she’s happier TJ Hughes is now in a more central location. “Now I don’t have to trail my trolly all over the place, everything’s right here … I’m glad it looks more or less the same.”Cosmetics on sale in new TJ Hughes on Church Street
