BREAKING: Ofcom launches investigation into BT after people UK-wide were unable to get through on 999 on 25 June

People were unable to get through on 999 as police, fire and ambulance services advised calling 101 and other numbers instead.

The regulatory authority said:"Our rules require BT and other providers to take all necessary measures to ensure uninterrupted access to emergency organisations as part of any call services offered. "They also require providers to take all necessary measures to ensure the fullest possible availability of calls and internet in the event of catastrophic network breakdown or in cases of force majeure."

The investigation will look into whether BT has failed to comply with its regulatory obligations and took appropriate measures to reduce the impact of the disruption.
