Investigations are continuing at the scene of a demolished mill inThe site at the Bismark House Mill on Bower Street remains cordoned off today after, two months after a fire ripped through the building. Police - who declared a major incident on Monday afternoon - and fire crews are now searching for the possibility of further bodies.
Greater Manchester Police said that they received a report on Thursday, July 21, that four Vietnamese nationals were missing and may have been involved in a fire. Detectives said they suspect the discovery of the human remains in connected to the missing people.Police are currently trying to contact their families in Vietnam. So far one body has been discovered with a multi-agency search for any potential further remains at the site now underway..
At the time of the blaze, it was not thought anyone was inside the building. Due to the previous contact relating to the fire and missing persons, the incident has been referred to GMP’s Professional Standards Branch for review, the force said.
