Issa Brothers' £100m food chain Leon ranked among best for breakfasts on Just Eat
Issa brothers-owned food chain Leon has been nominated for a national food award. Blackburn-born Mohsin Issa and Zuber Issa bought the fast food chain in 2021 and it has now been nominated for the Best Breakfast prize in the Just Eat Restaurant Awards.
The billionaire siblings co-founded petrol station giant EG Group and also have a majority stake in supermarket giant Asda. At the time of the the reportedly £100m sale to EG, the brothers said that Leon is a "fantastic brand we have long admired" when they took over from former boss John Vincent, who co-founded the firm in 2004.
There are currently more than 70 Leon restaurants in the UK, including 42 company-owned and 29 franchise sites, with a number on the Lancashire border, including Southport, Horwich, Rivington, Standish, Maghull and Billinge. They are predominantly found in airports, service and train stations and also have a selection of restaurants in the Netherlands and Spain.
EG also operates more than 700 food outlets in the UK and Ireland, including KFC, Starbucks and Greggs outlets. You can vote for Leon, which is up against fellow national chains The Breakfast Club and Gail's and London-based Pure, for the Just Eat Best Breakfast Award, here. Voting closes on December 18, 2002 and the winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on Tuesday, February 21, 2023. Winner are decided by a judging panel who will use a combination of awards submission, customer reviews, commercial factors and consumer votes.
