Her life support is due to be removed at 2pm today
Doctors looking after Indi Gregory may have to stop pulling the plug on her life support after an application, the first ever of its kind, was made by the Italian government. Baby Indi, who is just eight months old, was due to have her ventilator removed at 2pm on Thursday, November 9, after English High Court judge Mr Justice Robert Peel ruled against prolonging her life.
Indi was granted Italian citizenship after the Italian government got wind of her case and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni released a statement saying: "They say there isn't much hope for little Indi, but until the end I will do what I can to defend her life. And to defend her mum and dad's right to do everything they can for her."
As it stands, Indi's life support removal will still go ahead at 2pm unless the Court of Appeal agrees to hear the latest argument from her parents Dean Gregory and Claire Staniforth. The Ilkeston couple are asking that her life support be removed at home - but Mr Justice Peel has previously said that it would have to happen at Queen's Medical Centre or at a hospice.
