Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith were separated for six years prior to the 2022 Academy Awards, she has admitted in a recent interview.
The actress, 52, has been married to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actor, 55, since 1997. The couple have had a tumultuous year following the infamous Oscars incident where he slapped Chris Rock on stage following a joke he made about Jada at the 2022 event.
“We’re still figuring it out,” Jada says of the state of their marriage. “We’ve been doing some really heavy-duty work together. We just got deep love for each other and we are going to figure out what that looks like for us.” The couple have previously shared details of their non-traditional outlook on their marriage on several occasions. Speaking to Tidal’s “Rap Radar” podcast, Will said that they: “refer to ourselves as life partners, where you get into that space where you realise you are literally with somebody for the rest of your life.
