In a new interview, the Hawkeye actor told Diane Sawyer on ABC he was ‘awake for every moment of the crash, saying it was ‘my mistake and I paid for it’. ‘It’s exactly how you imagine it would feel,’ he said, adding: ‘It felt like someone took the wind out of you.’Recalling the moments following the accident, Jeremy remembered looking at his leg in shock and thinking it was ‘going to be a problem’.
He added that while he can still be ‘triggered’ by memories of the accident, he refuses to be ‘haunted’ by it and has ‘no regrets’.‘I refuse to have that be a trauma and it be a negative experience. That is a man I’m proud of because I wouldn’t let that happen to my nephew.**While he himself refuses to be haunted by the ancient, he felt guilty for his family, recalling how he used sign language to tell them he was sorry as he lay in hospital.
