Davis, 28, noted he is looking forward to spending more time with his wife and two children.
“We were aware of it and just trying to support him and his family in any decision they decided to go with,” Jets coach Robert Saleh said in an impromptu news conference Wednesday. “Selfishly we’d love for him to play, he’s an unbelievable man, an unbelievable player but at the same time he’s also a father. … I’m excited for him in his new journey but we always want him to know that he has a family here.
