Police patrols have been increased in London after the videos emerged, which a Government minister said was 'glorifying the terrorist activities of Hamas'.
A 20-year-old British man serving in the Israeli army, Nathanel Young, was also killed in an attack by Hamas militants, his family have said. He was serving with the Israeli Defence Services when he was killed on the Gaza border on Saturday. "The CST and Greater Manchester Police were already deploying a security operation across the community for a Jewish festival this weekend, and we quickly began discussions yesterday morning to see how this could be increased.
"We have been prevented from commenting until now due to the Jewish festival of Simchat Torah. Hamas is an internationally proscribed terrorist organisation which deliberately target innocent men, women and children. Their actions have rightly been unequivocally condemned around the world and we therefore support Israel’s right to defend herself against these terrorist atrocities.
"We are monitoring the situation and will work closely with our national communal leadership in London and key stakeholders across the region. We are grateful for the reassurance received from Greater Manchester Police who have directly been in contact to convey their support.Foreign Affairs Committee chairwoman Alicia Kearns has said the UK needs to encourage Israel and Palestine to re-engage with the introduction of a special envoy to the Middle East peace process.
