Nottinghamshire Live understand around 800 manufacturing staff are based at the Fereva factory at the Boots HQ

All manufacturing of Boots products could move out of Nottingham under plans that have put hundreds of jobs at risk at a factory operated by a separate company at the pharmaceutical giant's headquarters. Under new proposals put forward by the manufacturer Fareva, factories in Wales and France would eventually produce goods fora process which currently takes place at the historic D10 building within the company's Beeston headquarters.

Mark Wheatley the area organiser for the Usdaw union, said: "Fareva have today briefed staff at their manufacturing facility in Beeston Nottinghamshire that they are proposing to close the site. This is obviously devastating news for the staff and the local community. Nottinghamshire Live understands that the research and development operations for Boots products will remain at the Beeston headquarters. It's also understood the products Fareva are contracted by Boots to make would continue but at different sites.

WBA said at the time of its 2017 deal with Fareva that the move would open a "new and exciting chapter" in the history of Boots. Fareva has been contacted for further comment. The news comes just days after Boots said it was planning to close 300 of its stores across the country, although no jobs are due to be impacted by that decision.
